Hey Chuck - we call them Yaks (although I have had someone "Yack" in the back of a 52 I was flying...eugghhh)....

And we generally don't have to use much of NW runway either since the take-off roll in a 50 is about 125metres on a hot and calm day...much less on a cool and windy day...

Trust you aren't taking the **** out of us "experts"...

Hi Southern Cross:

It's obviousI can't spell worth shet.

Do you fly out of N.W.?

If so we should get together.

I was watching some guy trying to land a Yak at N.W. last year and it was pathetic the way the thing bunny hopped down the runway. I haven't flown a Yak but watching that performance the Yak has to be a good airplane, cause most tail wheel airplanes would have broken up the way that one was being abused.

What really impressed us is the guy parked it, got out of it and strutted away like he was God, including the Ray Bans and flying suit with Red Arrows ( I think it was Red Arrows. ) on it.

So I am just having a bit of fun poking fun.

Astro Compass?

I appologise for asking but I guess questions are the path to knowledge. I'm very new to aviation so I suppose that's my excuse... what's an Astro Compass???

The batteries in the compass will never go dead...that and having your head far removed from your rectum is the best way not to get lost.
