Static port connector on back of altimeter question

Static port connector on back of altimeter question
I've got to change out my altimeter to one with a millibars scale on it. Before I get my gymnasts leotard on and contort myself behind the panel is the little connector that joins the static hose to the static port on the altimeter reusable or do I need to get myself a new one before I start?
Really hope you are on the mend

Reusable, 1/8" pipe thread into the instrument. However, the can be known to break, so having a spare is a good idea.

PTFE tape is best avoided on aircraft. If you use too much or wind it in the wrong direction, loose tape can potentially cause a blockage. Maybe that wouldn't be too serious for an altimeter, but it isn't good practice.
A thin bead of thread sealant like loctite 567 applied a couple of threads down from the end of the fitting will give a good seal. And don't overtighten the fitting. Finger tight plus one turn is all that's required
