First solo x-country - what could go wrong?
On your very first land away solo cross-country it does not get any more difficult than this; Weather delay all morning. First leg runs on rails. Get to first stop and no-one speaks to you. Why? Because there is a crash on the runway and it is blocked. Now what?. Eventually land and time is now short. Sadly well-meaning lady friend keeps you chatting for ages. Then engine won't start. Next leg problems with navigation (usual simple error). Get to next stop quite late, just before closing time. Nice approach, but silly person ahead, landing on mega long runway, lands on the numbers and taxies the whole length at 1 mph. Forced to go around so now airfield closed. Lucky, ATC stay open but cafe closed. Last leg no problems and arrive back at base rather shattered. Me? No, my lovely wife. Very well done Su for keeping your cool (even though you got home too late to cook my dinner)
The real lessons have begun.
