Nearest airstrip to Machu Picchu

Anyone any ideas? Don't need an airport, just an airstrip...

Something (much) closer than Cusco.

Cheers, Sam.

Machu Picchu or Aguas Calientes lies on a straight line drawn between Cusco and Kiteni, the two closest airfields. Cusco is actually closer and has better connections to Machu Picchu.

If you google "pistas de aterrizaje Peru", you'll get countless reports on airstrips destroyed by the police or the army. No prizes for guessing why.

Question: only to land, or do you need to take/off also?

The center terrace has about 150m length and on the Carretera Hiram Bingham you get up to approximately 450m with some curves and little horizontal clearance ;-).
