Fishburn

Anyone know what's happening at Fishburn, plenty of tales, but what is the real truth?

I know, but with lawyers involved now I daren't tell you. In the meantime, there are other airfields with unlocked clubhouses and grub available.
I believe someone is writing a screenplay based on recent events.

Not shut. Just lacking facilities until a major dispute is resolved.

Latest from Fishburn. Squatters gone from clubhouse.

We are pleased to announce that as from 11/11/2016 the management of Fishburn Airfield will revert back to the Morgan family. We would like to apologise profusely for the level of service (or lack of it) over the past months and we look forward to returning Fishburn to the friendly airfield it once was.
The clubhouse will be open to members immediately, although only a very basic service of tea and coffee will be available initially, because as you will see, it has been stripped bare by the outgoing management. We will be refurbishing the clubhouse in the coming months and hope to be able to offer a more extensive service in the new year. We thank you for your patience as improvements are being made.
Avgas will be available ASAP but we do need to have the bowser and pump serviced and calibrated.

We will not be seeking to recover any unpaid rent from October and November and would like to thank you for your support during, what has been an horrendous few months for all airfield users.

Kind Regards,
Beryl, Dave, Jane, Phil and Kerry…and Zac

Fantastic news - Fishburn has one of the best clubhouses and I look forward to decent catering being available again.

If I may be excused for whining: wishing the operating team all the best, will they please remember not everybody uses nor wishes to use FB? The smallest bit of website, perhaps just a single page of static html, would be quite appreciated.

edited to add:

I did find http://fishburnaeroclub.btck.co.uk/FISHBURNAIRFIELD but that seems (ahem) slightly out of date; and also I found http://fishburnaeroclub.co.uk/ which is apparently dead.

Eshott's story is still being written. Who knows how it will end?

To those that matter.....

Now that the dust has settled I thought it best to update you as you’re probably unaware of the true facts.

Fishburn Aviation no longer manages the airfield and future rents should be paid to the Morgans. Those November rent receipts received by us have been allowed for within the COMPENSATION paid to us by the Morgans and no further payment is due for this month. The Morgans have been advised who made payments to us and November payments have been passed on to them as part of the settlement agreement.
Any future payments made to us in error will of course be refunded.

Following the breakdown in relations with the Morgans they refused to honour the binding contract between us and following legal and police advice we took the decision to protect our assets by remaining on the premises 24/7 until the situation was resolved. Unfortunately this took longer than anticipated and we regret any inconvenience that this may have caused you. Unfortunately we were left with little choice given the circumstances.

Comments have been made that we stripped the clubhouse bare. As the Morgans refused to pay for the fixtures and fittings installed at our cost we took most of what was rightfully ours when we left. However, we decided to leave the flooring, counters, toilets, deck, fencing, etc to a value in excess of £10,000. This has not been paid for and had we chosen to ,we would have been within our rights to strip the clubhouse back to a concrete floor.

This whole episode has been most unpleasant and unnecessary and I’m sure the model of a wind turbine on the bar will remind you of how it all started. Once again, many thanks for your support and kind comments over the past few months. I would like to assure you that we have no intention of entering a Tit for Tat Facebook confrontation. We will leave the childish behaviour and comments for others to make. Suffice to say we would prefer to remember the nice things about Fishburn and the many pleasant people we were privileged to meet.

What is the story with this airport?

If someone is writing a screenplay it must be a ripping yarn!

Thanks for the alternative view of events. I don't do TwitFace.
