Bob Hoover passes away
I read with sadness of the passing of Bob Hoover at 94 years. Though far, far, in excess of a private flier, he was a profound inspiration to so many of us. He was a pilot who could fly a plane with gentle grace, and take it to extremes, without being the least bit extreme on it!
Some people should have the privilege of living forever, Bob was one.

An Aviation legend indeed, who served a very amusing cup of tea :

There is a second video on the right showing his wonderful demonstration for engine out aerobatics, well worth a look.
Thanks for bringing this to attention Pilot Dar, a sad day indeed.

I watched Bob fly once, in his Rockwell. His skill and precision opened my eyes to the true nature of hands and feet flying. I can imaging him feeling the airplane at every moment, and it telling him what it could do next.
There will never be an opportunity for pilots like Bob Hoover to exist in the future of aviation, but we can aspire!
