CAA Air Display fees

Just seen the 2016 Little Gransden Wings and Wheels flyer.
It puts the extortionate new CAA fees into real life.

They will have to give over 10% of their Children's Charity collection towards the CAA fees.
The paperwork should take a CAA person no more than 30 minutes to complete and issue.
Fee used to be an eyewatering £1497
Now an incredible scam at £6994!!

CAA f*cked up in the past, now we pay.

And by we, I mean not just pilots, but the general public. Air displays being one of the Uk's safest and most popular spectator attractions.

As a public body, the CAA must be open to scrutiny, transparency and disclosure.

Gransden or, anyone else for that matter, should ask for an independent audit of justification for the amount in question and followed up with a threat of a judicial examination.

Perhaps a job for AOPA (coughs discreetly)

I recall that there was an organization formed asking for just that. People poo-pooed the idea behind that organization but it looks as if it might have been justified.

Apparently the CAA have assigned more staff to oversee flying displays and are probably taking them from other areas of the CAA, hence as charging more money. So will the other areas that now have less oversight as a result be charged less by the CAA.

For goodness sake! These bloated charities and super-rich stunt pilots should stop bleating about this. The poor old CAA is only asking them to cough up £100,000 this year. To put that paltry figure into perspective, it's less than the 22% pay rise trousered by just two CAA executives last year:
