Anyone know what this is?

Hi guys, first post here, so I hope I put this in the right forum, if not, sorry! I saw this on a youtube video, and being a ppl holder, thought it looked like a good idea. The cockpit panel doesn't exactly seem safe to hit your head against. Does anyone know if this is a special cushion designed for impacts, or is it just a normal one? Also, what are peoples opinions of it, to me it seems great for the passenger or SIC, but too distracting if you're trying to make an emergency landing as PIC. Thanks

It looks like a seat from sofa :-)
But anyway long time ago when I was in PPL training me and my FI trained precausion and emergency landing with pilot bag on lap. And that's because bag served like a airbag or againts rought impact with dashboard.
