Looking for an Engineer.

I am looking for a knowledgeable engineer, preferably with experience on PA28's to accompany me to Bagby to inspect a potential purchase. Obviously reasonable remuneration and travelling, possibly a good lunch and beverage supplied too! I will be driving so pick up and return will be no problem, I am coming from the London area. Will also be needing someone to ferry it to a London based airfield if the purchase goes ahead.
Thanks in advance,
PG.

Ferry flight possible

Hi pistongone. Once you have your engineer, I could help with ferrying back. PM me with details and I can tell you my location etc. Might even be able to fly you and engineer up there in first instance.....

Hi PG.

Les Scattergood would be a good choice for that job.

Les recently retired as the Chief Engineer, and owner of Sherburn Engineering, and so I would think that by now, Mrs.Scattergood would be glad to get him out from under her feet for a day!

Les can still be contacted through Sherburn Engineering, and may even have some knowledge of the actual aircraft you are thinking of buying, whilst, at the same time, being far enough away from Bagby to give you an independent inspection.

If you need the aircraft ferried, I know a couple of pilots who would be happy to do that for just some lunch and a train ticket home.

Thanks for the info MJ, I will call him tomorrow for a chat. The plane, i think, has been maintained for the last 5 or so years at Bagby? So probably not one of his recent customers?
Best Regards PG.

One thing you won't have trouble with, clearly, is finding a pilot who fancies a free trip in a PA28!

Devil PA28

Take a good engineer and check the paperwork very carefully!
Could be ex Fly Bpl aircraft from Blackpool! Would not touch with a barge pole!

Is Bagby open at the moment or is it still waterlogged?

Do you not trust the engineers available on site?

With the best will in the world, you're hardly going to get an objective opinion on how well an aircraft has been maintained from the people who have likely been maintaining it.

An independent opinion is essential before buying an aircraft.
