Sir George - nice try, but we all know that's your coachman, not you, flying in that pic!

Well you wouldn't expect me to actually do some manual work now eh, eh?

I've gone through several footmen over the years. None have ever stuck with it though. My original man came back recently claiming to be a Footman IRE/TRE and demanding 10 guineas a month damn me.

I had my game keeper see him off with buck shot.

Now I must get back to m'Lord Sugar's latest treatise.

but how did even you land that seaplane so it's balanced on an iceberg?
Haha! That photo was better than the earlier one, which looked like I was about to fly into the iceberg! I was trading favours with my mate, taking air to air photos of each others planes, against a rare spectacular background. We did not have long to practice, fuel was a concern, so one he told me his girlfriend had a good photo, we were done.

But I have to admit, you could not get a C-150 over that iceberg, and ever get it back ...

OMG Pace! That's near as bad as me saying how nice my 150 is to fly! Neither is a proper aeroplane!

Come and have a go in the RV, then you will really see how much fun light aircraft can be - and cheaper P/H than you will be hiring a PA28 for!

Piton singles and twins might be a bit ropey when flying over icebergs....

Foxmoth

A very dear friend built an RV6 years back completely from plan so it took him years to complete and totally agree as he let me fly it with him. It was a delight and you almost made turns by thought rather than conscious control inputs a delight

Bit of an eclectic mix my end....at the moment regularly flying all of these...

And shortly will also be back flying this...

Don't ask me which my favourite is though, lets just say I enjoy all of them very much and each has its own strengths.....

Unusual Attitude - nice to see SUPA is still going strong (I owned 1/3 of it for a few years).

Of course most of you don't get a view like this often:
  • Yes - it's stopped
  • No - it's not feathered (looks better in the photo this way)
One of the advantages of long wings

I can confirm that the old saying "fan on the front is to keep the pilot cool - just watch him start sweating when it stops" has some truth in it - certainly the first couple of times I saw a stationary prop (doesn't bother me now ).

Still going strong indeed OC619, nothing finer on a hot summers day than a bit of low level cubbing with the door open....bliss...

A similar pic from a vintage German-made motor-glider I flew earlier. This had the possibility to feather.

Too large, resize to 1024x800 MAX.

Resized:

Nowadays I upgraded to a modern luxury airplane, at least from my budget's point of view... I mean the plane in the foreground. Can you guess the type of the plane in the background?

I'd bet a boiled egg against a grand piano that it's a Let L410.

Oh, what an opportunistic attitude is this? Increasing DRAG for a nicer photo?

You win, Sir! It's indeed an L-410, more precisely L-410UPV-T. It's actually starting her takeoff roll will lots of skydivers inside (including my son, hmmm). That was an exciting Sunday, to say the least.

N159AR

@piperboy84, your N159AR registration begs the question of whether you're an Alfa Romeo car enthusiast Once upon a time the boss of Alfa Romeo in the USA had the N-number N1AR on his little two-seater... I have no idea how he was able to make himself pronounce it 'correctly' on the radio.

Alfa has built a couple of different 159s, this being the most notable.
