Have a nexus 7(2012) & (2013-slightly better display, no noticeable speed diff.) both work fine with SD, built in GPS and 16gb is fine unless you plan to store movies.
In high wing a/c you probably need to place it on the coaming for the inbuilt GPS to work well.
Anti-glare screen overlay worthwhile addition.

Sadly it is very difficult to speculate on the effectiveness of tablets just from their write up on paper, so I cannot make many meaningful comments on the tablet that ChickenHouse linked to, other than "Buyer beware".
I would tend to be quite suspicious of any device cheaper than £90, but it is possible that such a device would be adequate. The only thing to do is give it a try... and be prepared for the alternative possibility that it will be completely useless.
