NS,

I also see from the website - domain only registered this year - that LEFT has been going from 2006 (according to the copyright notice!)

But, when one looks at the - albeit well out-of-date - CAA lists of RTFs and ATOs, the words Leading Edge seem to have skipped my view. Although I did see ACS there.

It is all very confusing!

But as long as the punters are happy, that's the key.

Hello All,

I'm going to be in Glasgow in late November and was hoping to get in touch with some Glaswegian pilots or members of the Glasgow Flying Club. I found this outfit via this post ( leading edge flight training ) but wasn't able to find any contact info on their website. Anyone here part of the GA community around Glasgow? Thanks!

Smiley,

I live near Glasgow but I fly out of Prestwick, there is a club of around 40 members (always welcoming) and also a more formal flight school round the corner.

Glasgow has plus and minus points. Long runway, expensive and time restrictions, stunning views and easy access. Full fire cover and air ambulance on site.

LEFT is friendly enough, and very supportive. Subject to a check ride, you can just turn up and fly, within permitted times and they have a good choice of airframes. Glasgow Flying Club I've found to be a bit offy.

Prestwick Flying Club, as a club, is awesome. Just the one aircraft, and a bit under-powered at that, but really nice people, and a smashing friendly atmosphere.

Prestwick Airport is great, two big runways, 24*7 availability and the most obliging ATC staff you could ask for. Full time ATC and Coastguard rescue helicopter on hand 24*7, so it's a warm fuzzy feeling all round.

Prestwick local area, stunning scenery that takes a bit of beating. Submarine hunting or Island Hopping, you choose. Prestwick is getting my money for a mixture of all of tha above.
