Logbook Apps (for gliding)

Does anyone have any advice/reviews for free logbook apps.
Thinking of installing one on my iPad as a backup to my 'paper' logbook for my gliding.

Thanks in advance.

Just use a spreadsheet and avoid vendor lock in.

Use one of the apps below, and then mostly you can then reuse that spreadsheet in any of the others listed.

Microsoft Excel, Google Spreadsheets, Numbers (on Mac), LibreOffice Spreadsheets, OpenOffice Spreadsheets

The problem with "apps" is that when the vendor pulls the plug, you are left with nothing, no updates no support etc... and worse, if you wipe your phone/tablet and the app is no longer in "the store" then you cannot reinstall it and therefore cannot access your logbook records!

So, advice, use a low technology solution, like a spreadsheet, that can be opened in any major free (or commercial) spreadsheet application.

Whatever you use, backup is essential! When I began studying for the PPL, my car was stolen out of the driveway! it was found next day in a well known Oxford estate, the car was OK, but the textbooks and MY LOGS had been thrown in a ditch somewhere! no value to the thief, obviously....

Ever since, I have PAPER COPIES MADE and kept in my house separately....the logbooks stay in the new car. which of course has prevented a recurrence....

That's the plan Mary. I'm using my paper logbook as a primary record, with an app on my iPad as a backup.
Just need a recommendation for a free app now.
