Relaxation of PPL medical requirements??
I understand that the CAA are considering changing the medical requirements for PPL holders in that they will have to meet the same standards as group 1 HGV drivers. If I'm right, as well as reducing beaurocracy does it also mean a relaxation of the standards? When are the changes likely to come into effect? My blood pressure is slightly over the top at the moment so I can't get my medical renewed until it's sorted.

Note that this is just for UK PPL and NPPL holders. This will NOT apply to the EASA PPL or LAPL - the CAA cannot change those requirements on its own. (Although they can play a role in the EASA consultation process.)

AIUI what is proposed is not a relaxation of the medical requirements for the UK PPL and NPPL licences, but rather a relaxation of the mechanism needed to prove that the requirements are met. If you see what I mean.
