Aircraft recommendations (based at EGHJ)

A friend of mine recently retired and has moved to the Isle of Wight. He wants to buy an aircraft (retired Airline Pilot) to use on a regular basis to get him to various parts of Southern England and the Midlands in both VFR and IFR conditions.

Any suggestions? It has to be able to get in and out of Bembridge with two people and bags.

Only two people and bags out of a hard runway 837m long to fly a couple of hundred miles?

Virtually anything IFR equipped would do; he should narrow down his requirements more.

What BE said. Just about any CofA 4- seater would do all that.

If it was I , I'd buy an AA5B. But, that's mostly because I like flying them more than most of the equally suitable alternatives.

A well equipped 152 will do him now he doesn't need to haul self loading freight, stewardesses, duty free etc.

Tell him to buy an RV. Many of the RV owners fly IFR, and they don't have to pay the dodgy rip-off C of A bull!!!! prices that the Cessna and Piper geezers do. It's a no brainer.
