I nearly got clogged by a very big and fast r/c aircraft while joining downwind to land at Elvington once. Logbook says 22/7/12. Model aircraft and various other activities take place at Elvington and PPR is essential which I rang up about the night before. I was assured that no activities were taking place and I was fine to fly in. Obviously not the case. It wasn't the r/c clubs fault but this thing that nearly walloped me was a substantial size and much faster than I was. I'm certain if we had collided it would have been fatal.

Words were exchanged with the airfield organisers and they were left with my thoughts in no uncertain terms. Never been back.
