Here's someone who should be encouraged..
George Mel has dreamed of flying since he was a boy, but when his father died he had to give up his studies, and any chance of training to be a pilot. Instead he built a plane in his back yard - which so impressed his country's air force that it gave him a job.

Inspirational man. If I was a rich bloke I wouldn't hesitate to pay for the guy to go somewhere like Cranfield, you know he would put 100% into it.
Cranfield is postgraduate only, I think that the chap would probably want to do something like an MEng in Aerospace Engineering - plenty of places in the UK offer such courses.
Typical fees for a non-EU student would be £15k/yr for 4 years, plus another £10k.pa for living costs.
Say £100k.
Yes, impressive - the world is far better for people like that. The aeroplane itself looks sound (at this distance) - all the right bits in the right order, and the things hanging on his walls show that he's been doing his homework well. Ugly, but sound !
