Which synoptic forecast do you use?

Hi,

I used to use the USAFE synoptic forecasts (published by 21st OWS based in Sembach, Germany) which were free, published up to T+120h, and showed cloud and precipitation in addition to weather systems and isobars. Sadly, some time ago they withdrew them from public availability.

The UK Met Office ones on the free GA briefing service are not as good, and only extend out to T+60h - so are not very useful for picking a good day for flying in the coming few days.

So my question is: what do you use?

Thanks,
KP

What is wrong with +60h? Experience in the Northern parts was that in the morning the weather predictions were half way ok, next day solala, third day only rough guesstimate. I barely saw a +72+ prediction really worth looking at.

Go on to Ant Veal's GreatWeather for UK weather forecasts, satellite pictures, rainfall radar, weather charts and webcams

Go down the mass of sections and you'll see the synoptics up to 120 hrs

Have a look here. All there for 120 hours.

Just watch the issue times as they sometimes get mixed up.

I like weatheronline dot co.uk. If you click on expert charts on the left you can get a choice of weather models up to 384 hours.

You can guess how much use they are past 120 hours but it is fun comparing them all.
