Scottish Flyers/Forfar strip - Request
I know quite a few of you on here are visitors to the Forfar strip, or may know flyers that do who are not on Pprune. I would greatly appreciated if you could spread the word that using standard RT practices when visiting will go a long way to keeping things safer. I have had a few visitors mention to me that they have found themselves in the pattern with other traffic not talking on Safety Com/ Common Traffic Frequency 135.475. I myself have been surprised by other traffic not on frequency while flying. I understand some flyers use a type specific frequency for chatting when multiple aircraft are flying together, if possible whether you are arriving while receiving a service, or on the chat freq, or not taking to anyone at all to dial in the safety com prior to arriving and self announce as you would at busier fields. I understand due to the remoteness and light traffic it may seem unnecessary but it's good practice anyway.

FBW, beat my personal best this year, landed, blitzed the shops , prezzies loaded in the back of the plane and back up in the air in just over an hour with the bank card whimpering all the way home! Hope you had a good Xmas and thanks for all the help this year.
"go a long way" sounds nice but doesn't mean a thing. Either R/T is mandatory or it isn't.
Mind you, even when and where the radio must be used one is never sure what equipment broke down right now on what plane/pilot so you can always and everywhere have a nordo around. Actually. R/T is just like the various kinds of anti-collision equipment: a nice addition, worthwhile to have, perhaps, but never to be counted on for 100%.

Of course the request is reasonable beyond discussion. As said, the strip is HIS, so it is HE who sets the rules.
Then again, let him actually set a rule, that will give him a reason to whine if any wildpilot doesn't comply. As long as he only politely begs, he can only be politely disgruntled.

It is actually reasonable behaviour in the UK to use Safety Com (135.475) in the vicinity of an airfield that is non radio, especially if one is intending to land there.
Such a reminder/request is far from useless, just because it is not legally enforceable.

Ah my dear continental friend I think something has been lost in the translation, there is absolutely no need to fret about my wishes being ignored. I have supreme confidence that anyone that has read my message and does visit will act accordingly. A common sense request is a far more effective way to achieve the desired result because that's the way we roll in this neck of the woods, the issuance of diktats is best left to the "experts" in Brussels.
