I often have a paramotor fly low over my house. No idea where he's from, but I have exchanged waves. Frankly, I couldn't give a monkey's. So long as he stays low.

Whilst illegal, I can appreciate your sentiments - high flying paragliders are like human sugar stealers and sometimes very difficult to see.

Trouble is all this is reminescent of the early days of hang gliding when people (including me as a 17 year old) threw themselves off the nearest hill with little thought for their own safety, the Rules of the Air or anything else for that matter.

Yes, in the good old days instructors cared about the student - whilst many still do, there are those who only care about their own career and the best way to gain hours to achieve their ambitions. Certainly at Barton I don't remember any poor instructors, but I do remember many extremely good ones whose wise words have stood me in good stead in the intervening years. Imagining admitting to MR, for example, that you'd just buzzed a football match in a paraglider!
