Mountain flying course???

It's me again still waiting for spring to arrive so I can go outside in comfort, so with nothing better to do I thought I would start a discussion on what exactly a mountain flying course should entail.

Over here in the Peoples Socialist Republic of Canada I have seen many advertisements for mountain training at flight schools and each school seems to have a different slant on what a mountain training course should contain.

First off let me state that in my opinion a mountain flying course should be focused mainly on teaching the subject on the ground, followed up by flying in the mountains experiencing the various dangers to avoid based on such conditions being prevalent at the time of the instructional flight, such as high winds and or poor ceilings / visibilities etc.

Far to many so called courses seem to be based on " There are the mountains lets go fly in them ".
