GAPAN PPL Scholarship 2014
Hi everyone - I've just sent off my GAPAN application for the PPL scholarship they have available.
Does anybody have an insight as to what they look for in their applications to separate the good ones from the bad?
Many thanks in advance and Good luck to anybody who has applied

Anyone else heard anything? The website says mid-april for responses, so I wasn't feeling too converned yet... however if the above's true, then concerned is certainly appropriate

Hi mate - I haven't heard anything back yet either. I was too getting concerned until I read your response. We don't know whether it was for a glider scholarship or a PPL one that her friend went for - or a different scholarship altogether.
Let me know when you get your response from them - I'll let you know too.
All the best

PFS13,
Yeah I'll keep you updated if i hear anything. I'm not too worried. The 3rd day of April only and the website says we'll receive a response by mid-april. It's not over yet or so i'm hoping
Last year there were rejection emails sent out, so no news is good news at the moment.

In my experience you need to have very good grades.. A standard reason to fly.. a standard extraordinary flying story.. Oh and a standard idea of where you see the issue of a PPL taking you.
Based on personally knowing three past successful candidates over three years.
Essentially, have a B or higher in GCSE English, Maths and Science leading to a similar barely useful set of a-levels or degree. Also have an interesting story of previous flying experience. If you have none of those, then you're just applying for the sake of it.
Sincerely,
A bitter unsuccessful candidate.

Good luck to you all. I instructed the lucky recipient of one of these scholarships a few years ago and he was one of the best students I ever had, passing in 45 hours 10 minutes. He is now an ATPL.

Evening all,
Did you really get selected for the final 9 for the PPL scholarship? I am getting really worried now as I have had no email but if they are sending out emails with confirmed places for the interview day then it looks like I may have been unsuccessful:/ Let me know who else is in the same position as me please as it would be interesting to see others in the same boat.
Cheers James

If any of you live in the South East there is a PPL Scholarship going at Biggin Hill from the Nick Davidson memorial. Details on the Biggin Hill airport and Surrey and Kent website.

Hi Ian , congratulations on reaching the interview stage, my friend has also got an interview on the 29th. Do you know how many PPL scholarships are available please ?
must wondering how you got on with the RAF selection ? My friend also tried for that this year and the previous !
Thank you for that info, unfortunately we are too far away I think to qualify. Hopefully if my friend is successful for the Air pilots scholarship, then he said he is going to do a fund raising event through the cadets to help sponsor somebody else, and give them the same opportunity... Good luck to my very dedicated clever kind friend Jack
