Thanks for all the advice. I need to get as close to Edinburgh as possible. It will be a trip from the south in a PA28. Any more information about Latch farm or Kirknewton? Both look the closest to the city. Many thanks again.

At risk of pointing out the very obvious - plans for the next 6 months, into grass strips, on airfields without instrument approach procedures, in Scotland, have an extremely high potential for failure.
Hence that I always use Prestwick for Glasgow, or Dundee for Edinburgh.

Waverley station is slap bang in the middle of Edinburgh, and the East Coast line has improved. As Genghis states, this might not be a doable trip in the near future, unless full IFR. Latch Farm is micro light, Kirknewton special
