Deicing fluid - chemically an alcohol - used on runways and taxiways.

I think when it comes to carb ice many conditions are possible. I really like fuel injected engines.

Note: The landing light goes on when cleared for takeoff (controlled airport) or starting yoru takeoff roll (uncontrolled airport)

This only applies in the USA...

Not a bad policy, though. I've done it all over the world without any negative feedback...anywhere.

Like my former bush pilot son likes to say, "Dad, I'd rather be safe than legal." And there is nothing illegal about it.

No, it occurs at every major airport in Europe, and is good practice at smaller uncontrolled airports for our smaller brethren also.

Edit,

Although, Big Airways 73 crew at a large Med airport near chaos corner forgot a few days ago, or both were U/S.

Lights? Other than anti-coll, if during the day I don't need any and so don't use any...
The bulbs (especially landing) don't last long so I don't want to waste them!

riverrock83:

If your lights flash, they will last a long time. I have replaced mine once in 1,000 hrs. Plus, they are much more efficient than strobes during the day time on a head to head in the rain and mist.

Whatever the cost, its worth it, IMO.
