TMG? What have I got?

Hi all. Can anyone advise me?
I have a lapsed PPL with SLMG, SEP and TMG ratings,

I can start flying again but what is my best option, as the NPPL seems very attractive path?

Is the TMG good because if I recall, it means my motor glider hours count towards my SEP hours, does that sound right?

If I convert to NPPL, do I have to do hours every two years for both the SLMG and SEP ratings?

If I renew my PPL, can I then just start to act as an NPPL pilot at the next renewal (I heard there was now a much simpler way at renewal time, a PPL can just start to be an NPPL if you see what I mean).

Thanks in advance for any advice
