ECI Cylinder, proposed AD
The FAA is proposing an AD that would require the scrapping of IRO 60,000 cylinders about 34,000 of these would have to be withdrawn from service within 25 hours, the remainder can fly to a total time of 1000 hours before removal.
At the moment this action is only a proposal and the industry in the USA is objecting to it but I would expect the FAA to take further action following the AD it issued to combat the problem of some ECI cylinders having problems with the cylinder head separating from the barrel ( this AD requires 50 hour compression checks and cylinders to be scrapped at 2000 hours time in service ).
