Piper PA 12 struts

New pilot here and i just bought a piper pa 12 thats out of annual. I need to get the struts X-rayed to complete my annual. I know i can go buy new lifetime struts but would rather spend the extra cash on fuel right now! Looking at the AD i can't really tell if your suppose to get them x-rayed or not but anyways the airplane mechanic told me to. I live in east central illinois and can't find a place in indiana or illinois to take them to. anybody know of any? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi and welcome to our little forum. Firstly, congrats on buying a PA 12, is that a Super Cruiser 3 seater? Can you post some photos.

We have loads of contributors on here with a lifetimes worth of knowledge so hopefully they will be along soon.

One question - if you x-ray the struts and they are condemned what is your Plan B?

Good luck

SGC
