What's the problem here?
Is not, in the Flying Orders
the same as
Surely it is part of your pre-flight checks to ensure that all certificates and documents are valid and current. I, for one, would certainly not fly an aircraft until I had satisfied myself on the matter. Indeed, commercial crews check the documents (kept in the tech log folder or other designated folder, either copies or originals as required) each time they fly.
It would seem some of the kettles who are calling the pot black may not be doing this

'It is the individual responsibility of pilots to ensure that adequate insurance is carried and that all such policy certificates are valid and current. Details of the precise terms of the insurance cover under which Company aircraft are operated may be supplied on request.
You are absolutely 100% entitled to ask for evidence of insurance from the club

Unfortunately, insurance is one of the last things on a pilot's mind - partly because he doesn't understand the implications, partly because he trusts that adequate insurance will be in place and partly because he sees only blue skies and wants to go flying!

Insurance & a moral duty of care
As pointed out above there is no duty on the part of the aircraft rental agengy to have anything other than third party insurance cover on the aircraft, this seems to be reflected in the flying order book for all to read.
The question I would be asking of anyone who rented me an aircraft on this basis what else is missing from the plot ?
In theses days when legal action almost always follows an accident to rent an aircraft to someone who you suspect has not got the appropriate insurance cover is in my opinion morally wrong. No doubt it is OK in the eyes of the law as it clearly stated in the flying order book but such a policy would leave me wondering if I would want to trade with people who engage in such sharp practices.

Fly Bpl - Is It The Beginning Of The End???
I can confirm RM will indeed return. He will be building new premises on the south side of the airfield, entry being via the golf club. The new hangar will accommodate a new pilot training suite, and space to service and maintain the new fleet of 10 Cirrus new build aircraft. Sue Kendrick will be joining Robert in her new administrative role. The airfield have agreed a 'free fuel development fee' to help him find his feet. Balfour Beatty have also agreed to do his driveway, and the CAA have agreed the standard inconvenience of the 'C of A' will be waived to save any embarrassment. You heard it here first....

Observer
Blackpool airport seems to be the place to be ,fantastic there is still places in the uk that want to promote aviation and to make things easier for new start operations
Even the CAA helping fantastic not sure how that will work but hey ho there are different rules for some maybe they have some special support from cirrus with such a big order
Through out this thread there has been some bad things and good things said about this guy but in the light of this news he can't be that bad with all the support given by Blackpool airport and the CAA I hope he succeeds
I've not been to Blackpool for 25 years it great that things are looking up there and past differences are forgotten but it's definitely on my visit list
Well done mr rm we need more people like you in aviation
Maybe it's time to put this thread to bed on a high note

Apparently. ...... he's moving into the fire station and the fire crews are moving into his old hangar. It's all kicking off 1st of February.
I expect the airport will want cash up front for fuel and landings this time round?
