Merlin Flying Club Pageant 2013

Merlin Pageant

Come along to this year's Merlin Pageant with classic aircraft and cars. The event will be held on 8th June and is a bargain at £5 entrance fee.

Merlin Flying Club is based at Hucknall airfield just north of Nottingham and has a long history with Rolls-Royce. The field is maintained and operated by the club members on a voluntary basis. These tasks range from club house duties and aircraft cleaning to grass cutting and manning the fire and rescue crews. This carries on, the so far 97 year history of flying training being conducted from the airfield.

Access to the airfield is via Gate 2 at the Rolls-Royce Hucknall facility. See: http://www.merlinflyingclub.co.uk/HuckMap.pdf

More info on the club and the airfield can be found on their website.

If you own a vintage aircraft and would like to fly in on the day then refer to this page: Aircraft

Attended this event yesterday and very enjoyable it was despite the cool overcast weather, made all the better by 3 glorious warbirds, Spitfire PR11, Mustang (Janie) and Peter Vachers beautiful MK 1 Hurricane.

Quite a privilege to share the same flight line in our humble Austers and the flying display these guys put on was a joy to behold, so much better within the confines of a small all grass airfield.

So a big thank you to the organisers and participants , I have heard rumours that this was probably the last such event, I so hope that is unfounded!

Thanks for the review ECHO ROMEO, it certainly was a great day for our historic airfield at Hucknall, with many vintage and classic types in attendance! I am pleased you enjoyed the day.

It might interest you (all) to know that we have a another event organised, the Robin Hood Fly-In on Saturday 17th August 2013. Attached is the official internet site: Robin Hood.

Best Wishes.
