Renewing SEP classrating with current JAR ATP

Hi
I hope you can help me with this one.

- I hold a current UK issued JAR-ATP (as I work for a UK airline)
- My SEP class rating expired Feb 2009

I want to renew my SEP class rating now.
I live and work in Germany presently.

My questions:
- what do I need to do in order to get my SEP class rating back ?
- which forms do I need to present to the instructor / CAA ?
- is there a possibility to do the required checkflight with a non-UK/local instructor (who then needs to be a "CRI(A)") ?
(Guess he canīt sign straight into the license any more since end of 2012?)

It would save me all the effort to go to the UK, find a flightschool etc....
Here I have everything.

I am prepared to first get my SEP rating back BEFORE I finally convert
to the new EASA license (ATP + SEP), but maybe I can just save money/time and
do all at the same time = renew SEP and also convert to EASA ATP.
(Which I guess is veeeery complicated.... )

ANY help highly appreciated !

Many thanks,

TLT

You will need training as defined by the Head of Training of an ATO then an LPC. After that the paperwork will need to go to the UK CAA along with the course completion certificate and they will renew the rating.

The training will be completed with an FI(A) or CRI(A) and the LPC by and FE(A), CRE(A).

As the rating has expired by more than three years the examiner will not be able to sign the licence. It has to be reissued.

The rub however is that you will also need to convert to a part FCL licence as the UK has no way of issuing the rating on a JAR licence now. So you will seed an SRG1104 to apply to convert and I would send an SRG1199 with it for English Level 6 just to be on the safe side.

So you will need:
SRG1104
SRG1199
SRG1119C
SRG1119D

Plus a wadge of cash.

@bose-x

Thanks for the quick reply. I already knew it will be difficult....

The training will be completed with an FI(A) or CRI(A) and the LPC by and FE(A), CRE(A).
Ok, you think I can do the training with a German CRI(A) locally who then signs
the required forms after I completed the training here?

And then these forms will go to the UK CAA to re-issue the SEP together
with my conversion from JAR-ATP to EASA-ATP....
ANY EASA compliant CRI(A) should be able to do it, or not ?

Because itīs really difficult to commute between Germany and the UK for all this...
Training is not done in a day....

Itīs strange, I can fly an A320 every day but to get a SEP-classrating back seems like rocket-science...

The CRI(A) or FI(A) who conducts your training will only sign your logbook.

The Head of Training of the ATO and the Examiner who conducts your skill test will be signing the paperwork to say all the requirements have been met.

There is nothing stopping you doing it with a German ATO, just bear in mind that the Examiner who conducts the LPC will need to have done the UK online briefing first and then notify the UK CAA of the test.

Thanks. Valuable Information.

As my license has expired now for more than 3 years, does the "old"
threshold of 5 years still apply till you have to do basically everything
all over again or do I have more time now ?
Or is "within 5 Years" expiry still an important date ?

No, you are subject to EASA Part FCL regulation now. If the rating has expired by more than three years then it has to be re-issued by the CAA. Less than 3 years and the Examiner can sign.

In other words, I can now wait another 5 years if I want because the required checks/trainings etc are due anyway.

Would be a big difference for me, as I donīt need to squeeze that training then into 2013 necessarily....
