EASA/JAR PPL confusion

So I got my PPL JAA in the UK a few years ago, I now live in Ireland, where I am now doing a complex conversion on a Piper Arrow II. Me and the CFI are confused about the whole EASA change, can I still put Irish ratings on a UK License (As you could when it was JAR) or does the EASA change affect it in any way.

I have had a look around the CAA website but I am finding it hard to understand, the whole EASA change has not really been that clear

You don`t need a rating as such just the instructor to sign off differences training in your log book for retractable gear and constant speed prop.

The licence can only be amended by the State that issued it, so the Irish could never add anything to a JAA licence they did not issue. Your JAA licence is now an EASA licence and only the issuing Authority can make changes to it, as its UK, you would have to obtain an EASA licence before any changes can be made.

As stated, in your case no amendment is required, just a sign off so no CAA action. You can qualify for other ratings in Ireland or any EU State but the UK CAA will have to process them unless you change your State of licence issue.
