Lyneham ATZ?

Hi There,

Does anybody know the reason why RAF Lyneham still has an ATZ on the NEW Ed39 VFR charts? Is there still some small operations from there? I notice there is a helipad inside this ATZ....

Thanks.

It was active last September / October I believe the University ATC were using it. Latest plans for the joint military training facility show trees planted alongside the length of the runway so I assume it is only a matter of time before it is deleted.

The site will no longer be an operational airfield and there is no training requirement for flying. There may be occasional VIP visits by helicopter and some training activities involving the taxiing of fixed wing aircraft.
