Guam to Jacksonville - non stop!
Retired American Airlines captain Bill Harrelson (who's wife Sue is a retired United captain, btw) just landed in Jacksonville, FL where he'd flown non stop from Guam in his little homebuilt Lancair 2-seat single engine airplane, beating Max Conrad's "unbeatable" record from 1959 when he flew from Cairo direct to Los Angeles (in a Comanche). He spent 40hrs aloft and without sleep, covering more than 8000 miles. Most of those hours over the Pacific with absolutely no alternatives in case of any malfunction.
Still a few with the adventurous spirit out there. How he fit his huge balls in to the cockpit the story doesn't tell. I can only tip my hat to Bill Harrelson today - respect, boss man!

Bill Harrelson is at it again with his Lancair N6ZQ. He's now 24hrs into his nonstop flight from Virginia to Montevideo. And if you look at his spidertracks you'll see that most of that was over water with no real alternatives. Guy's got brass balls. Hats off to Bill Harrelson!
