Gliding Course Scholarship
The aim of the Scholarship is to assist the successful individual, who might otherwise not have the necessary resources, to achieve their British Gliding Association 'A' Certificate (First Solo). The successful candidate will be expected to take the Bronze C theory examination.
The Scholarship covers direct training costs and BGA 'A' certificate application and examination costs. Associated travel/subsistence expenses are the responsibility of the Scholarship winner.
The criteria for successful applications includes:
- ability to demonstrate a serious ambition and ability to pursue an aviation-based career
- availability to undertake and complete the Scholarship between 1 July and 31 August 2013
- educational achievements, demonstrable knowledge and/or experience in science, Mathematics or other aviation related subjects
- ability to satisfy the NPPL medical requirement (DVLA Group 1 with GP endorsement)
- age at least 14 on 1 June 2013
- Height restriction: under 6’ 4”. Weight restriction: 16st 4lb (103.5kg)
Candidates who are short-listed for the Gliding Scholarships are required to attend at their own expense an interview at the Guild Office in London on 3 May 2013. (Alternative dates cannot be arranged). The interview process includes short tests to help ascertain aptitude and ability.
Closing Date for applications: 13 March 2013
Interviews: 3 May 2013
Training at a BGA approved Gliding Centre between: 1 July and 31 August 2013.
