German plates: pay per airfield?
Is there a way to buy vfr plates of German airfields per airfield.
It is possible to buy the full AIP from the dfs, but I only visit German fields approx. 5 times a year and a subscription of eur100 would be quite expensive.
Is there a way to buy it per plate?

ak7274: That's not official data, though - and the homepage says that AIP and DFS information to be used for flight.

jkveenstra, if you have a SkyDemon subscription, many German plates are available from within the software.

@DaveW I use Skydemon, but only the major airports are available for free. For the smaller airports you need an extra subscription of around 90 euro.
EADS unfortunately has the chart of the major airfield and only IFR (as far as I can see).

In case you are thinking about spending EUR 100 for the VFR approach chartsfor the German fields, you could also consider buying a VFR-Europe subscription from Jeppesen, Jeppview. For about EUR 250 you would have full access to all VFR plates and detailed airfield information for all Europpean airfields. And accessible via PC and iPad JeppTC app.
I am aware that Germany is an exception with payed access to something that should be available free of charge. But advantage with Jeppesen is that you would have all airfield charts and info in the same layout.

Go this website EAD Basic - Login Page
Click on free registration and then do what it says.
Once logged in click the "application" tab on the EADS basic home page and then click on PAMS light [AIP]
That will allow you to click through a series of drop down menus and get any German Airfield plate VFR and IFR you like, it'll do the same for all the Eurocontrol countries.
The only problem is that "user friendly" it ain't!
Click on free registration and then do what it says.

@Johnm sorry, but I really cannot find VFR charts for Germany in EAD S. Many IFR charts though.
Can you show me the way to do it?

Sorry I now realise that the VFR detail isn't there, your best bet would be the Jeppesen VFR guide or a Jeppesen trip kit unless you get the plates from Skydemon flight planning software. I never use VFR charts even if I fly VFR. IFR charts give me all the info I need and I get things like VFR reporting points from flight planning software and GPS.

I think what is now called the "VFR Europe" plates is what used to be the Jepp Bottland Touring Guides.
You get the VFR approach charts (which you don't get in the IFR package) which show the suggested VFR circuits etc.
In Germany you probably get hung drawn and quartered if you depart from those routings by 21.5 m laterally and it disturbs one of the locals while he is consuming a 10m long sausage. Actually there was a court case along those lines...

You can install it on four machines so obviously you share it with four mates and split the cost The equivalent Bottlang guides would have cost a lot more and would have weighed 50kg+. On my early VFR trips I carried up to 30kg of those guides.
The quality of some of it is poor e.g. phone numbers for airports were ~ 50% duff. Nowadays you use google for that, and find the airport website.

Sorry m'lud, I had to take action to avoid some birds which could have been a danger to my safe completion of the flight, had I stayed within the constraints of the circuit......
