Flying and Operating The Antonov AN2

I am often asked what is like to fly and operate the AN2.
Well if you would like the answer to that, then you could not do better than read the Fantastic write up In the September Pilot Mag. It captures the Feel and the experience to a Tee!

There are lots of them going for a song in Eastern Europe, some in a very reasonable condition, some only good for parts. It's obviously a pipe dream, but I can't help thinking of getting one and converting it into a flying home.

What happened to James Black's AN2 ?
I recall flying it a couple of times at Barton when he did his summer tours around the UK. On the second occasion with a full load of passengers, my work colleagues & families with a number of children. I asked Manchester if we could do a low approach & go around, got told to orbit over Rostherne Mere at Tatton Park then unfortunately Manch got rather busy. It was a hot summer day, we were keeping below 1,500' and after about half a dozen very bumpy orbits I looked back into the cabin to see a dozen very green faces and quesy looking kids!! So we never got to do the flypast but went back to Barton where ice creams soon cheered up the children.
I hate to think how many people I put off flying that day....
