Post FAA proposes new Sport Pilot Category rule.

The FAA is proposing a new category of "Light Sport Aircraft". It is an interesting concept which could significantly change the lower end of the GA market.

The basic idea is the creation of an entire new category of aviation based around aircraft with meeting the following criteria:

There would be additional certification for instructors, repairmen and manufacture, but essentially you would be able to buy, maintain, operate and even use your own aircraft to perform for-hire instruction!

Very Interesting! In addition to some very capable existing aircraft that would meet this criteria, I would imagine there would potentially be some great new designs to take advantage of this new category.
