PPL with Trim flying club

Hello,has anyone done a ppl with Trim flying club?It looks like a good place to do a PPL its cheaper than anyone at Weston,has a short grass strip which should be interesting.But is there a catch?What was your experience?

Hi there mate, I did a fair bit of flying from Trim a couple of years back - I would say it's an ideal location to train for the PPL from. No money wasted on long taxi routes (runway being right next to the parking area and clubhouse!), nice short (but not too short) grass strip, and plenty of places dotted about the country to make up that 150 nm cross country.

See if you can get in contact with the airfield owner, it's a chap called Pat Murphy (flies for Aer Lingus, incidentally), really decent guy and will give you honest advice about what it's like flying from there.

I was there in the Summer when it was moderately active. I couldn't comment on the Winter months!
