Crosswind is on the correct side in this config. The pilot needs to keep the starboard wing down and when the port wing eventually drops the resultant swing is reduced due to the wind trying to weathercock the aircraft to starboard, a very good job by all
Very impressive. I presume the Skycrane was preparing to drop retardant if necessary.

Yes, the crosswind is on the right side for weathercocking purposes, but on the wrong side for keeping the wing off the ground. It's six of one, or half dozen of another, I suppose. A left crosswind would probably have made keeping that wing up longer possible - and to a lower speed, but it might have veered off earlier. It's all academic anyway.

Seeing how smoothly he landed I wondered if it would have been worth driving a car down to have the wing land on? It'd probably have saved mega bucks in repairs.
