Oban?
Has anyone been to Oban recently? Is there a caff of any kind yet? (Paul's jammy dodgers are good, but I need more than that after a couple of hours, as there are another two to get back!) Might have a look next week....

The hotel is a nice 5 minute stroll, but there is now a bus service into Oban. Check times. As said vending machines. But you could pop over to Glenforsa where great food and the hotel is 20 mts from your plane park.

No onsite cafe but various options.
Loch Nell Arms Hotel is about 10mins walk. Sunday carvery is good value.
Walk a little further across the bridge takes you into Connel where there are a number of options including the Oyster Inn and Glue Pot.
Short taxi ride takes you to cafe at Poppys Garden Centre or Wide Mouthed Frog at Dunstaffnage Marina.
Finally bus or taxi all the way into Oban.
Alternatively head for Coll or Colonsay. Coll Hotel is about 4 miles, Colonsay Hotel about 2. Generally both hotels will arrange pickup from airfield.

Thanks for the updates. It's been over a year since we were there last, and we feel the need to go and have another 'fix' of one of the best places to fly to/around in the UK.

Disagree with Slopey. It's not that short a hop into town, and a fairly expensive taxi journey if you're just stopping for lunch and no overnight. On the West coast Plockton is a fantastic food stop.

The hotel is a lovely walk, only 5-10 mins and serves great meals with a lovely view of the harbour.
I love the fact the road signs simply say "Hotel" since it must be the only hotel for miles.

Yes - done Plockton. Took 3 attempts to land that day - not too much wind, just the downdraft about 1/2 a mile out took a bit of getting used to. Had lunch on the station platform....
Was at Oban today and last saturday. Went to Glenforsa for food last saturday. Oban is having phone problems. If the phone just rings and rings, tell them when you PPR on the radio.
