Duxford RV Bonus Day 12th May 2012

Duxford RV Bonus day 12th May 2012

If you fly an RV (or are think of building one, or even just like being around exciting aircraft) come to Duxford on 12th May, meet your friends and get Bonus Day Discounts. The RV Bonus Day last year was weathered off, so I'm hoping for sunshine in 2012.

Duxford is home the Imperial War Museum and must be the premier destination for GA pilots in Europe. Most weekends through the flying season, although there are no guarantees, you are quite likely to see warbirds flying – Spitfire, Hurricane, Mustang, B17, Catalina and other rare types are based at Duxford.

The Bonus days offer great discounted prices: all aircraft will enjoy half-price landing fees and much reduced museum admission. Single or twin can land for £7; museum entry is £7 for most adults and children come in free. If you only want a short visit to the museum, come in FREE for up to two hours (but I think you'll want to stay).

There’s lots to see, the £25+ million ‘AirSpace’ project, the American Air Museum and four hangars packed with vintage aircraft, many in flying order – really a ‘must-see.’ We are planning to arrange a couple of short tours to highlight some of Duxford's goodies. If you just want to relax, sit up on the balcony of the Briefing Room (under the tower) and watch the aircraft come and go.

Can't make the 12th May? Other Bonus Day event for 2012 -- for all types of aircraft:
9th June - specially for the LAA and its sister organisation in France, the RSA.
8th July - Pup, Bulldog, Miles and Auster Bonus Day.
23rd September - AOPA Bonus Day for members and other interested pilots.

As well as Bonus Days, Duxford welcomes FLY-INs. Call the tower for discount details.

If you would like to base your aircraft at Duxford, there are a few tie-downs available just now. Call the tower.

Further information about the Bonus Days and information for fly-in visitors can be found on the web site :
Flying at IWM Duxford | Imperial War Museums
then click on the link to Bonus Days (also airfield information link).

The airfield team will be delighted to hear from forumites (call for PPR, briefing and broad slot time 01223 833376) and to see you on the day - call asap as the popular slot times get booked up in advance.

Alan.

Just over a week to the Duxford RV Bonus Day and still plenty of slots available. I know the rubbish weather is causing folk to hold off deciding to fly until the last moment, but it would help to know how many aircraft are likely to come along. So please call and book your slot and get your briefing -- if the weather is bad (again), you can always cancel.

Can anyone come?

This might be a blinking obvious question, but is the RV Bonus Day limited to RVs or can any old spamcan book a slot? It appears so from your website, but I wasn't 100% sure.

And presumably you only need to book arrival times, not departure slots.

Thanks

Sunny:

Yes, it is open to any aircraft/pilot, but will be obviously of most interest to RV pilots or those thinking of flying RVs.

Yes, you only book your arrival slot. Departures are as required.
