Maiden Flight of the Diamond DA52

Exklusive coverage on the Maiden Flight of the new Diamond DA52 on 3. April 2012. The DA52 is the first Composite Diesel Twin designed as a 7seater. It is already seen as the new Flagship of Diamond Aircraft. Have a look on this powerful and fascinating new aircraft:

It looks the same size as the standard DA42. Is the cockpit really longer? There are no windows for anybody in the very back.

Their press release talks about the Austro Engine A300E with 180HP. That would be quite an achievement.

Looks a bit cramped for seven people... unless three of those people are children.
Same as our six seat Comanche... the rear compartment has little legroom and headroom, and doubles as luggage compartment. We've been six up, but with two or three of the six being small children.

Yes, 7 persons is a bit ridiculous.

The DA52 is the same size as the DA50, which is significantly larger than the DA40/42.

Impossible for me to sit in a DA40/42. The DA50 was OK...

The aircraft is based on the DA50 and the cockpit is larger, however the 7 seats might be ok for pixies with little weight but as always it will depend on the W&B and available useful load.
