gps and flight planning VFR

Emerging from a cloud of dust, burrs and chafings ( I'm about to test fly a glasair III which i built over the last 8 years ) I discover that lowrance has stopped providing airspace maps for the airmap 2000 C I bought years ago at OSH ( I know...)
anyone out there with good tips on which handheld moving map gps to go for ? and what VFR flight planning software is out there. i know that France has put a free one on line to help VFR traffic from keeping out of trouble.
thanks,

I've nothing to say on the subject of GPS but...

And do take care - far too many amateur built aeroplanes have been bent when nearly new because their builders either had let their flying skills lapse whilst building, or simply did not understand test flying. Don't be afraid to ask for help from a current Test Pilot.
