Like many, I did my PPL on a cadet scholarship which IIRC was based on a 4 week training time though due to wx (high pressure haze built up over time so we were sunning ourselves at the beach instead of flying) this extended a bit over. Most flyable days we flew 2-3 hrs which was fine, did the odd day with 4 hours and that was very tiring.
