Kneeboard Plastic Cover - Cheap Upgrade

Nothing spectacular, but I just discovered that you can use cheap punched pockets as plastic covers for your departure or approach plate prints and other docs you prefer not to write on.

The trick is to cut them to a bit over A5-ish size (or whatever knee board size you are using) and then seal the edges (bar one) with a kitchen heat seal (the one the missus uses to seal and then freeze excess veggies and meat).

Because a packet of a 100 punched pockets retails for under £2, it is easy to order not just the main approach plates, but for any number of alternates add the airport docs, STARS, SIDS, etc... without risking writing ATC gibberish on them.

I use A4 or A5 plastic pockets, and most times just print the plates I require out from the national AIP. No real need to seal them, as they're perfectly secure and then I can just replace the sheets when they get updated.
