It did exist, and I bought a Chippy key ring at the dH Moth fly-in at Woburn some years ago (Chippys are honorary moths for this event!). And even further back in the mists of time I were a member!

Don't know whether it still exists. Google isn't very promising.

Ralph Steiner of The de Havilland Aircraft Heritage Centre ran The Chipmunk Club when I was a member.

Try contacting him through the Heritage Centre contact details...

Thanks for the replies guys.

I am up in the frozen wastes of Canada at the moment and will try the Heritage site when I get home.

Well Guys,

I hope you all had a great Christmas.

I tried Ralph Steiner on the e-mail shown on the DH Heritage site and heard nothing, so I guess the Chipmunk is a dying breed over there with no club etc?? The original web site I found had a very comprehensive list of amanuals and information.

Anyone got any better ideas where to find manual info and parts etc??

I think Ralph Steiner may very well not be with us anymore, but I stand to be corrected.

Far from being a dying breed, 124 on the UK register

GINFO Search Results Summary | Aircraft Register | Safety Regulation

We have 2 at Prestwick, used for ab-initio, aerobatics and tailwheel diffs. And we're not alone in the UK.

Ralph was a very, very useful contact though. Failing him, de Havilland Support is your best bet for info and contacts

Thank You Gentlemen,

Glad to see that so many are still alive and well in the UK. There are quite a lot in Canada, but they are slightly different in many ways other than the canopy. I will be passing High River, Alberta, in the morning where there are several but being a Tuesday there will be very few people about so will probably not stop.

I trust I didn't cause any upset asking about Ralph and I hope the news will be confirmed as incorrect.

GeeWhiz has also given me a name to try so I should be good to go.

I will also try the other leads.

If I read things correctly it looks to me as is de Havilland Support Ltd are changing the way they support their types which will allow Chipmunks and other types to be placed on LAA Permits.

If that is right it's a significant step forward.

Pleased to report Ralph Stenier is very much "alive and kicking" or at least he was when I called in the museum in late November this year.

Hi all, I am a new guy here, but I have also contacted the DH Chipmunk club on their website's contact details recently, to no avail.

I have recently restarted flying with a view to setting up a Chipmunk syndicate in my local Cornwall area as a long term goal.

If there is a Chipmunk owner/operator community out there, I would like to get in touch with them to start getting a feel for the practicalities of running one.

Any advice highly appreciated - in the meantime, I will pursue all the links mentioned in this thread.

Might also be of interest - put up a formation of seven from Goodwood the other day, next one at Duxford.

Cheers Foxmoth, the August & September dates may allow me to con Mrs Subsunk into a mini break in the vicinity at the same time!

Contact also made with Caledonian Chipmunks, so things are moving in the right direction.
