Brazil police smash into plane

Video: Brazil police crash into plane to thwart smugglers' escape - Telegraph

Best double check you've paid the FBO's landing fees in Brazil before departing!

If they rammed into the plane intentionally, it was a pretty dumb decision: there was plenty of room to place the car in front of it and stop. Bit of a waste of a Saratoga (or whatever).

I assume they didn't want to get chopped up by the propeller... In front of a plane that's taking off is not the best place to be...

Awesome! Those police officers weren't afraid of criticism or a litigious society.

Perhaps the New Piper company encourages such action, to help them get the legacy aircraft out of service permanently....

Not to mention that aircraft in general have worse braking performance than cars. Especially on soft "runways" like this one. That makes it incredibly hard for the police officers to judge where to place their car to make the plane stop, without endangering themselves by exposing them to the propellor.

And if you think that their car would adequately protect them from the propellor, type VH-KBZ in Google and see what you get.

Considering the situation I think they did the right thing by hitting the wing.

Grreat job to catch them, must have set back bicycle smuggling back by years.

Seriously though; With that much damage, I'd have thought they'd be accused of using excessive force. Even Regan and Carter never did that.

Wow

I would've thought a plane would accelerate faster than a car and looking at the speed of the plane I'm surprised it didn't get off the ground.

Looks like it was more likely coming into land than attempting take off?
