Not sure why this is worth mentioning. Old news to most who move in GA circles full time, there was even a thread on here about recruitment for it years back.
What's a Cessna F04? 14 passengers? Will these clowns never get anything aviation related correct?

The story is that the Met are run by police authority just like every other police
force in the UK.

Having a secret 'Air America' op is something that should be the remit of the secret services.

I heard that Diamond are selling lots of their DA42 MPPs for surveillance work, because their running costs are much lower than helicopters.

Its a Reims Cessna 406, commonly known as a F04, exactly the same as the Cessna 404.
OK, it was only designed as a freighter or to carry 10 passengers and 2 pilots, but they weren't too far out.

Who's the clown now?

The 406 is not exactly the same as a 404. It has turboprops. And who calls it the "F04"?

Old news! The tabloids will be telling us next that the SAS are roaring around in Agusta 109s and AS365s painted up in civvy colours with no registrations.....

The police force in the Netherlands flew around in an aircraft registered as PH-COP. So much for secrecy...

Nobody, apparently. If you google "Cessna F04" you get only hits from the Met Police story on various media and from this very thread.

Oopssssh

Accident occurred at Polis Social Do. Hmm. "Routine Training Exercise". Aye right. Translation: Polis Social Do, local Bobbys letting their hair down, some bright spark decides to break out the fancy thing he's been working on to impress the nice plonk that works downstairs and his mates in CID to which he's been bragging about said machine.

Either that, or seeing the thing in the flesh, DCI Gene Hunt decides he wants a shot, bungling tw@t doesn't have a clue and thus fancy kit ends up in the swanney.

One wonders if fannying about with said fancy machine trying to impress mates/burds whilst a bit pished was a contributory factor.

It's probably easier to control, but having flown the more traditional radio control helicopters what seems to me remarkable isn't that it's just crashed - more that it's been flying for 4 seasons without a devastating crash before now.
