Just a few words on this place. Yes, you have to get ppr by emailing/phoning vectis gliding
but not on operational days, sat sun and l think wednesday, and you pay the landing fee by walking around the side of the airfield, to the propeller inn. What is not recognized is that the BN works are NOT for public access and are getting fed up with the arrogance of some pilots wandering around the place. That said, the canteen is still open mon-fri with the same excellent chef, which l thought was now closed. It isnt, so do go in there, and you are more than welcome , just dont get stroppy with the security chaps, and they will welcome you as well! Did you also know, if you want to take back any local crab/lobster, then not 10 mins walk away is a house that prepares/ sells the stuff.

I'll second that. Went there today, and Vectis now operate a radio advisory service on the Bembridge frequency (123.25). Very friendly people, and perfect base if you like walking (or you can catch the bus outside the Propeller Inn). The fish seller is 'The Best Dressed Crab in Town'- Superb, and they are open every day until Xmas. It was nice to see so many visiting aircraft today- Enjoy!
