Controlled Flight Into Terrain- TAWS/EGPWS Whats best for light aircraft?
Is this technology only really applicable to larger aircraft or can it be relevent to GA?
Is there any other (hopefully cheaper ) technology that people use that is more effective in terms of GA? (that you would recommend)

A Garmin 496, with its audio output wired to a spare input on your intercom, does the job very nicely.
Probably as well as the 4- and 5-digit priced GPWS products.
It makes it awfully hard to fly into a hill.
I've had this since about 2005.
Where it might be less than good is on a bodged instrument approach into say Innsbruck but then I don't think any GPWS will work too well in that situation, because it would need to have the IAP/SID/STAR profiles programmed into it.

I fly with a GNS430 in the panel and a GPS unit running Skydemon stuck to the side window. Both get agitated when close to the ground with enough beeping and flashing to alert me. I think they both work well.
